Elsie M. Cosby, 92, of Cardinal, departed this life Dec. 4, 2014.

She was born on Aug. 9, 1922 to the late Russell and Lucile White. She was the wife of the late Robert S. Cosby Sr.

She was a homemaker and a faithful member of Zion Baptist Church. She was also a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was predeceased by a brother, Russell White Jr. and two sisters, Elizabeth White and Helen Jones. 

She leaves behind to cherish her memories a son, Robert S. Cosby Jr. (Mary) of Cardinal, Va.; four granddaughters, Deidre Morgan (Terry) of Valrico, Fla., Melissa Cosby of Norfolk, Va., Devin Cosby of Gloucester, Va., and Yvette Griffin of Stratford, Conn.; one grandson, Robert “Bobby” Cosby (LaRhonda) of Mathews, Va.; 10 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, at Zion Baptist Church, Cardinal, by the Rev. Johnny Wallace. Burial will be in Poplar Woods Cemetery. Viewing will be on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
