Elizabeth Billups Bowles, 93, of Mathews, Va., died peacefully at home on Aug. 18, 2014.

She was the daughter of Mabel and Andrew J. Billups, and was predeceased by her brother, Andrew (Anne). She was the widow of Dr. Richard B. Bowles. 

She was a graduate of Mathews High School, St. Catherine’s School and attended Longwood College. She was a faithful member of Kingston Parish Church and a dedicated member of Mathews Woman’s Club, the Mathews Garden Club, and was an honorary member of Gloucester Garden Club.

She is lovingly survived by daughter, Nancy Linn Allison of Abingdon, Va., and son, Dr. Richard B. Bowles (Barby) of Oakton, Va. In addition, she is survived by five granddaughters, Linn Griffin (Brad) of Malibu, Cal., Mary Towles Kintz (Andrew) of Nashville, Tenn., Beth Duchanaud (Stephane) of Rye, N.Y., Robin Wyte (Rob) of Oakton, and Anne Bowles of Reston, Va., along with 10 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, Mathews, on Aug. 21, 2014 at 2 o’clock, with Fr. Doug Geddes officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to one’s preferred charity.
