Elizabeth Ann Bridges Robbins, 83, of Hayes, was called home on Feb. 21, 2023 after a six-year battle with dementia and Alzheimer’s. Elizabeth was born on Sept. 23, 1939 to Alvin and Elizabeth Bridges in Gloucester, Virginia. Elizabeth graduated from Gloucester High School in 1957 and went on to marry William S. Robbins of Hayes in 1969. She was a lifetime resident of Gloucester and a member of Olive Branch United Methodist Church. She spent the majority of her working years at Abingdon Elementary in the cafeteria where she made an impact on each and every student she interacted with on a daily basis. Others may know her from her second career at Peebles in Hayes, where she worked for many years as a sales associate. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Bridges; father, Alvin Bridges; brothers, William, Harold and Vernon Bridges, as well as her sister, Ada. She is survived by her son, Edward (Michelle); grandchildren, Macy Young (Phillip), Nick (Shelbe), Olivia and Peyton. Visitation was held Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023, at Andrews Funeral Home from 6:30-8 p.m. and funeral services at Olive Branch United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. on Sunday the 26 of February. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Riverside Walter Reed Hospice for their outstanding care and support for the family over the last six months.
