Elias Smith, “Lossie,” of Gloucester, died at his home on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, surrounded by his family at age 85. Elias was the owner and operator of Smith’s Tree Service for over 40 years. Elias loved to fish and hunt and was a member of the Ark Hunt Club. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gloria Smith; three daughters, Mary Bonniville (Paul), Norma Luther (Ed), Barbara Garner (Rick); seven grandchildren, Ashley Smith, Brandon Bonniville, Jake Luther, Ridge Luther, Jacob Garner, Nathon Garner and Nicholas Garner; one great-grandson, Elias Luther; sister, Viola Bonniville, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family received friends at Hogg Funeral Home on Sunday, December 22, 2024, from 2-3 p.m. A funeral service, conducted by the Rev. Randall Cupp, was held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 23, 2024, at Olive Branch Global Methodist Church, 10833 Harcum Road, Gloucester, Va. 23061, followed by interment in the church cemetery.
