Prior to the upcoming elections, Gloucester’s Electoral Board chairman Evan Farmer spoke on the integrity of the voting process, addressing Tuesday’s meeting of the Gloucester Board of Supervisors in the colonial courthouse. Farmer’s presentation was given in response to comments that have been made by Gloucester residents at past board meetings.
A number of residents have voiced their support or opposition towards the machines used to count votes, the use of drop boxes and early voting methods. Those against have claimed that machines pose a security risk due to the possibility of tampering with the software that is recording the votes.
These residents have requested the county to implement hand counting as a more secure method of voting. They have also called for a stop of early voting and the use of a ballot drop box because of concerns they might increase the chances of voter fraud.
