Eleanor Hill Evans, 81, of Mathews, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022. She was the devoted wife of and is survived by her husband, John R. Evans Sr. (Jack). She was the mother of David Allen Evans, Kimberly Jo Evans (Becky), John Richard Evans Jr. (Holly) and Mark Richard Evans (Patricia). Eleanor was born in South Hill, Va., on Dec. 21, 1940, the daughter of late Hardy Flowers Hill and Eva Dawson Hill.

She took great pleasure in her grandchildren, Jacob B. Rogers, Meredith C. Evans, John R. Evans III, Amelia G. Evans, Megan E. Evans, Zachary P. Evans and Genevieve R. Evans.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her siblings, Horace Hill, Carlton Hill and Ellen Xoinis, and is survived by her brother, Glenn Hill. She adored her many nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and -nephews.

A memorial service honoring Eleanor’s life will be held Saturday, Dec. 3, 2 p.m. at Bliley’s Funeral Home, 8510 Staples Mill Road, Richmond, Va. 23228. A light fare reception will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, it is Eleanor’s wish that donations be made to the Leukemia – American Cancer Society.
