Edwin Vance White, 81, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, while a resident of Riverside Convalescent Center, Mathews, with his family by his side.
Vance was preceded in death by his mother and father, Edwin and Thelma White; brother, Ronnie White; daughter, Lisa Goodloe, and great-granddaughter, Kayla Goodloe.
He is survived by his loving wife, Clara; son, Steve White of Bumpass; son-in-law, Ray Goodloe; grandson, Raymond Goodloe Jr.; granddaughter, Erica Goodloe, and great-grandson, Koble Brannan. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Lucille Tyssen of Gwynn; brothers-in-law, Robert E. Callis of Gwynn, and Carl Callis of Quinton, and a host of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his extended family, Stan and Yung Smith of Henrico, Va.
Vance was an Army and Korean War veteran. He worked for Richmond-Petersburg Turnpike Authority, P.D. Brooks, and then formed his own company, Rich-Lite, until his retirement. Vance spent his final years being the sole caregiver to his wife whom he was devoted to. He loved to laugh and joke and he will be missed by his family and friends.
Memorial services were conducted by the Rev. Jerry Stewart on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, at 2 p.m. in the Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, Va. Interment was private.
