A funeral for Edward Tucker Nelson Sr., 78, of Saluda, was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Shacklefords Chapel United Methodist Church. He died Sept. 1, 2011.
Mr. Nelson served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, was former owner of Nelson’s Citgo Gas Station in Hampton, and retired from Empire Sales as superintendent.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; parents, George and Mary Nelson; sisters, Mary Brown and Edna Blackstock, and brothers, Bill and George Nelson.
He is survived by daughters, Mary Nelson and Janet Nelson; son, Edward "Eddie" Nelson Jr.; brother, Charles Nelson; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
The service was conducted by the Rev. Charles Mchose; burial followed in the church cemetery.
