Edward J. Harris, 80, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2023, at his home in Gloucester, Virginia. After he graduated from high school, he worked for Ford Motor Company in New Jersey. In 1963 he started his own business, E.J. Harris welding which he owned for over 30 years. Edward had family in Sandston whom he enjoyed visiting. He fell in love with Virginia, and he retired here and lived out the remainder of his life near the water.
Edward was a member of the Botetourt Masonic Lodge #7 AF & AM where he served as the Worshipful Master. He attended Ware Episcopal Church and Seventh-day Adventist Church in Gloucester. He was a gun enthusiast who enjoyed spending time at the shooting range. He loved NASCAR racing in person and on television. He found sitting by the water’s edge to be very relaxing.
He is survived by his significant other, Nancy Moorman. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Seventh-day Adventist Church on Main Street in Gloucester. Andrews Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
