A funeral for Edward Earl Heath, 89, of Yorktown, was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Peninsula Funeral Home, Newport News. He died Friday, Sept. 27, 2013.
Mr. Heath served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He moved to the Peninsula in 1947 to go into business with his father. Together they started Heath Roofing Company that served the Peninsula for 31 years.
Mr. Heath was active at Calvary Baptist Church in Newport News; then Mathews Baptist Church in Mathews County, and then going to Faith Baptist Church in Hampton. He served as a Deacon and in many other positions of leadership in all three churches.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Frances O. Heath; a son, and two brothers.
Survivors include a son; two daughters; 17 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.
Burial was in Peninsula Memorial Park, Newport News.
