Editorial: Voting 101

We are now in Prime Election Season, the period between Labor Day and Election Day, Nov. 5, in which all the campaigning that has already occurred continues with even more intensity.
Friends, we have an election on our hands.
It is our opportunity to choose the people that we want to lead our nation, both in the White House and in Congress.
But first, we must be sure that we are registered to vote.
What does that involve?

Has it been a number of years since you voted? Do you think you are registered, but want to be sure? Check your registration status at www.elections.virginia.gov. Go to the “citizen portal” and follow the prompts.
If your name does not appear, and you believe you are registered, contact the registrar’s office in your county. In Gloucester, the number is 804-693-3659. The office is located at 6467 Main Street.
