Editorial: There’s still time

Early voting is underway at local registrar’s offices, so unless you’re already registered to vote, you’ll probably just have to sit out the 2024 election. Right? Wrong.
Voters can register or update their registration by Oct. 15 online at www.elections.virginia.gov/citizen-portal. If you’re unsure if you are registered, you can also use the same site to make sure you are good to go.
So, after Oct. 15, you’re out of luck? No. That is just the cutoff date to register online in time for the Nov. 5 election. But beginning Oct. 16, Same Day registration begins. Same Day registration is only available in person at your local registrar’s office during early voting, and at your precinct on Election Day. You heard that right, you can even register to vote on Nov. 5 and cast your ballot provisionally … although it’s best to be a little more prepared than that.
