The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention shows that in 2020, Virginia logged 1,202 suicides; these are the deaths of hidden anguish.
Suicide was the 11th leading cause of death in Virginia in 2020, even during the months that the Covid pandemic took hold and caused thousands of deaths in the state.
Among young people ages 10-34, it was the second leading cause of death.
A national hotline number, 988, is easy to remember, and easy to dial.
The shockwaves of any person’s suicide cause ripples far and wide, shaking relatives, friends, and communities.
