Arousing cheer goes out to organizer Dr. Chuck Harris with follow-up cheers for the army of volunteers who eased the dental miseries of hundreds of residents this weekend.

For the second year, the "Mission of Mercy" free dental clinic attracted overwhelming response from adults and children who needed some attention in the chair. They got it due to the cheerfully donated aid of dental professionals who gave up their weekend to this good cause.

Many otherwise mature adults who are able to afford preventative dental care will do almost anything to avoid a regular checkup. It must make them feel rather foolish to discover that hundreds of fellow residents would like to be in their shoes.

Hats off to the Mission of Mercy Dental Clinic for helping so many neighbors at the free dental clinic. It is a wonderful gift to the community that underlines why Gloucester is often termed "Land of the Life Worth Living."
