Editorial: Please spay and neuter

The Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society recently posted that it has dozens of kittens in its shelter, hoping to find good homes for them.
The society provided this graphic to us in 1991. Since that time, spay and neuter assistance has become possible in several forms here, making expense no excuse to avoid a population explosion.
Please spay and neuter your pets. If you don’t have the money to do this, please contact the humane society which will direct you to sources of aid.
Unhomed, unneutered dogs and cats can live solitary, nasty, dangerous, miserable lives. We would not wish to condemn our best friends’ descendants to such a fate.
