At what point is it no longer news?
A mass shooting Monday morning in Louisville, Kentucky resulted in the deaths of six people, including the shooter. According to a count maintained by Wikipedia, that brings the total to 18 mass shootings (as of April 10) for this month alone. Not all of those incidents resulted in death, but taken as a whole, 18 people were killed during these mass shooting events.
The nonprofit Gun Violence Archive has been keeping track of mass shootings and other gun-related incidents since 2014, and the incidents of mass shootings in the U.S. has shown a steady rise almost every year, from 272 in 2014 to 646 in 2022 (which was actually a decrease from the 690 mass shootings the year before). GVA defines mass shootings as incidents in which bullets hit four or more people, regardless of whether any of them die.
