Editorial: Making an impact

What a great way to celebrate and support Gloucester County Public Schools.
On Saturday morning, nearly 400 people came out to Gloucester High School to take part in the 13th annual Gloucester Educational Foundation’s 3K/8K Walk/Run For Education. Last year’s event had to be canceled because of inclement weather, but there were no such problems this time around, as runners were greeted with cool temps and sunny skies, the perfect condition for a race.
It was a day of fun, fresh air, exercise and competition—all for a great cause. Money raised from participants (as well as the long list of businesses and organizations that were Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond and Name Sponsors) go directly back into the schools, in the form of $500 mini-grants for GCPS teachers; the division’s Teacher of the Year recognition; one-time and renewable scholarships, an All Pro Dad’s Breakfast; a GHS senior arts competition, and other support for students and teachers.
