Tensions seem to be excessively high lately, with people quick to take offense over perceived slights/attacks as everyone appears to be on edge.
Perhaps it’s just the beginnings of a build-up to the 2024 presidential election. If so, this level of anxiety will only continue to rise over the next 17 months. Or maybe it has to do with former President Trump being indicted on federal charges related to his handling of top-secret documents. While the special prosecutor has promised a speedy trial, the complexities of the case combined with possible defense challenges along the way could lead to a trial that is anything but swift. In the meantime, tensions will surely continue to ramp up.
On his own social media platform, the former president called the day he had to appear in court “one of the saddest days in the history of our country” and that was one of the few statements Trump has made where both his supporters and detractors can agree.
