We have entered the final stretch of a very busy local election year.
All the candidate forums have been held in both counties, and early voting has been going on for more than a month now. The end, Election Day—Tuesday, Nov. 7—is now in sight.
Early voting has been going well in both counties, especially in Mathews. Mathews voters have far outpaced their neighbors on the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck. According to information available through vpap.org, as of Sunday, 14.5 of every 100 registered voters in Mathews have already cast their ballots (for the region, that figure is 6.7 for every 100 voters). Gloucester, meanwhile, is a little bit below the regional average, with just under 5 voters casting their ballots early out of every 100 registered voters.
