Early voting starts Friday in June 18 dual primary

Early voting begins Friday in two primary elections held in Gloucester and Mathews counties, and across Virginia.
Locally, Democrats will be asked to choose between two candidates for the 1st Congressional District seat currently held by incumbent Republican Rep. Robert J. Wittman of Montross, while Republicans will be able to choose from five candidates for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine of Richmond.
Both Wittman and Kaine will advance as the candidates of their respective parties in the November general election. Early in-person voting continues until Saturday, June 15, for the June 18 primary.
Voters will have to choose, either when they come to the polls, or when they apply for a mail-in ballot, whether they want to participate in the Democratic or Republican primary.
