Earl “Butch” W. Hancock Jr., 68, passed away on Friday, September 13, 2024. He was a native of Newport News and a resident of Mathews County for the past 27 years. Butch worked in law enforcement for 33 years and retired from the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office in 2010. He was a member of Parkview Baptist Church for most of his life. Butch was a Boy’s Club boy and the youngest World Arm Wrestling Champion at the age of 17. Butch loved his family and friends and was so proud to be Grandpa.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie Fullbright Hancock, they had been together 49 years; daughter, Kati Hancock Geyer (Brendan); brother, Michael Hancock; grandson, Barrett Geyer; granddaughter, Brynlee Geyer; grand dog, Tucker, and good friend, Dennis Epps.
A graveside service was held at Peninsula Memorial Park on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 1 p.m.
