Dwight Jefferson Thompson, age 72, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, at his home in Mathews, Va.

He retired from the Henrico County Public Works Dept. He was predeceased by his father and mother, Morris Thompson and Elva Jenkins.

He is survived by his wife, Luz D. Thompson; a daughter, Shelby Carano of Goochland, Va.; a sister, Gaynell Cole of Peterstown, W.Va.; one grandchild, Caleb Mallory; two great-grandchildren, a niece and several nephews.

A graveside service was held on Tuesday, Aug. 5 at 2 p.m. in H.C. Smither Cemetery, Hudgins, Va.

Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, was in charge of the arrangements.
