Dusewicz seeks reelection as Commonwealth’s Attorney

John Dusewicz, 40, of Gloucester Point, is seeking reelection as Gloucester’s Commonwealth’s Attorney in the Nov. 7 election. He is running unopposed.
Dusewicz began his law career in Northern Virginia in environmental law. He decided this was not the career for him and began applying to prosecutor jobs. After sending his first application, Dusewicz received a call five minutes after applying and was offered an interview. At this point, he had no experience in criminal law.
“I was a pretty fresh lawyer,” he said.
On his way to the interview, a deer ran into the road from the mountains. He hit the deer head on and his car spun 360 degrees. No one else was around at the time of the accident. Dusewicz experienced damage to his car, causing him to be 3.5 hours late to his interview. He walked in covered in mud and deer blood.
