Dukes take victory at Sleepy Hole

The Gloucester High School golf team took its fourth consecutive win Tuesday, Aug. 27, at Sleepy Hole Golf Course in Suffolk with a team total of 311 for an 18-stroke victory over Menchville.
Senior Blake Sibley again won the individual title with a one-under par 71, including a five-under par 31 on the back nine. Freshman Levi Vannoy and sophomore Fenton Scott tied for third by shooting 79. Junior Joseph Moritz took sixth place with an 82.
Also playing for the Dukes were sophomores Aiden Mudrie and Mahliah Richardson who shot 88 and 99, respectively.The Dukes were scheduled to play at Kiskiack Golf Club in Williamsburg last Thursday, but the match was canceled shortly after beginning because of the extreme heat. The match will not be rescheduled.
At the halfway point of the season, the Dukes hold a 59-shot lead in the standings. Sibley holds a 21-stroke lead in the individual standings and is the only player who is under par for the season.
