Dukes suffer first district wrestling loss

The Gloucester High School wrestling team fell to Kecoughtan, 42-27, in its first Peninsula District loss of the season last Thursday. The Dukes beat Menchville, 49-23, in the tri-match at GHS, which was originally scheduled for Jan. 2.

Getting wins against Kecoughtan were Gloucester grapplers Matt Favazzo at 113 lbs. with a 3-0 decision, A.J. Ransom at 138 lbs. with a 10-6 decision, Robert Leso at 160 with a pin in 2:52, Devon Pullen at 170 with a pin in 44 seconds, Ethan Newell at 182 with a pin in 1:49 and Levi Reeves at 195 with a 5-0 decision.

 

Winning over their Monarch opponents were Favazzo with a pin in 3:50, Anthony Monahan at 120 with a pin in 2:44, Jordan Schall at 132 with a pin in 2:44, Ransom with a pin in 1:13, Pullen with a 12-1 major decision, Newell with a 4-2 decision and Reeves with a pin in 5:31. Menchville forfeited at 106 and 138.
