Gloucester High continued to show its Peninsula football opponents it can compete in a 35-27 Dukes’ loss at Hampton last Thursday. Both teams had a pair of touchdowns on the board at the half but Hampton pulled away in the third quarter.
Owen Rousselle put up the first Gloucester points when he caught a 68-yard pass from Brady Barefoot. Devon Pullen added another first-half touchdown with a 34-yard run.
Pullen scored again in the second half when he pulled down an interception and returned it 67 yards for a score. Barefoot accounted for the fourth TD on a short pass from James Scott.
Gloucester rushed for 283 yards in the loss and passed for 105 but was hurt by 17 penalty calls for 154 yards.
The Dukes, with only one win on the season, have two games remaining. They are scheduled to end a trio of road games at Kecoughtan Friday night and return home for their finale with Menchville on Nov. 1.
