Dukes face tough first week

The Gloucester High School varsity boys’ basketball team faced a tough first week of the season, losing all of its games.
The Dukes fell to Kecoughtan, 81-53, on Nov. 28 at the Warriors’ home court. Dylan Deyoung was the lead scorer for the Dukes with 22 points. Jayden Ganzenmuller scored nine, followed by Bryce Monroe with seven, Alex VanVranken with six, Tyler Welch with three and Keagan Watson, Preston Prentiss and D.J. Carter with two points each.
Gloucester also had a tough game at home against Hampton last Thursday, losing to the Crabbers, 83-28. VanVranken led the scoreboard for Gloucester with eight points, followed by Deyoung with six, Monroe and Prentiss with four, Ganzenmuller with three, Justin Anderson with two and Keymoni Wilson with one.
The Dukes faced Denbigh at home Tuesday night, falling to the Patriots, 63-48. Monroe and VanVranken each scored 16 points. Ganzenmuller also made the scoreboard with nine points, followed by Deyoung with five and Carter with two.
