The Gloucester High School varsity boys’ soccer team dropped a pair of home games last week, falling 4-3 in overtime to Grafton and losing 3-2 to Menchville.
Matt King turned a corner kick by Dustin Tietjen into an early goal for a 1-0 Gloucester lead over Grafton on April 10, but the Clippers evened the score before the half. Kyle Rowe and Dylan Wyco respond for the Dukes to make it 3-1 early in the second half. Gloucester saw that advantage slip away as Grafton battled back to tie it at 3-3 and then went on to win it in overtime with a final-minute goal.
Gloucester experienced its first Peninsula District loss on Friday when both teams came into the matchup with 2-0 district records. Menchville scored early but senior Justin Hansford answered for the Dukes to tie it up 1-1 before the break.
