Duke wrestlers blank Denbigh, win Invitational

Gloucester High School wrestlers notched their second Peninsula District dual match of the season with a commanding 80-0 victory at Denbigh on Dec. 5. The Dukes additionally won the Newport News Invitational Tournament held Friday and Saturday, also at Denbigh.

Against the Patriots, Gloucester got pins from Matt Favazzo at 113 in 1:51, Anthony Monahan at 126 in 46 seconds, Jordan Schaal at 138 in 1:50, A.J. Ransom at 145 in 1:17, Robert Leso at 160 in 1:21, Devon Pullen at 170 in 1:06, Steven Zavatski at 195 in 1:01, Thomas Clifton at 220 in 3:11 and Jerry Woodlief at 285 in 2:58.

Gil Owens at 152 earned a technical fall win over his Denbigh opponent and Levi Reeves at 182 won by decision. Forfeits went to Will Neikirk at 106, Jeremy Gardner at 120 and Isaac Chaney at 132.
