Duke matmen dominate Bethel, Woodside

Gloucester High School grapplers dominated Bethel and Woodside in a tri-meet hosted by the Wolverines on Jan. 4.

The Dukes outwrestled their hosts by 51-24 last week. Pinning their Woodside opponents were Jordan Schall at 132 in 3:27, Ethan Newell at 152 in 1:10, Robert Leso at 160 in 1:43 and Devon Pullen at 171 in 3:05. A.J. Ransom, 138 lbs., won by decision. Forfeits went to Anthony Monahan at 106, Matt Favazzo at 113, Jerry Woodlief at 195 and Micah VanNess at 220.

Gloucester wrestlers Isaac Osorio at 120, Cecil Osorio at 126, Stephen Sherrange at 145 and Levi Reeves at 182 were pinned by Wolverines. Both teams forfeited at 285.

Against the Bruins, the Dukes prevailed 46-22. Gloucester collected five forfeits in the win while giving up a forfeit at 285. On the mats, Monahan got the only pin in the contest in 28 seconds. Newell and Reeves won by decision and Schall won by major decision.
