Drug Take Back Day events Saturday

The Bay Rivers Telehealth Alliance is observing National Prescription Drug Take Back Month and Drug Take Back Day with events taking place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday throughout the region.
BRTA members and area sheriff’s offices have joined the Take Back initiative to help with the proper disposal of unused or expired drugs with collection sites in the Middle Peninsula, Northern Neck and Eastern Shore.
Locally, collection sites will be available at the Gloucester, Mathews and Middlesex sheriff’s offices, the pharmacy at Gloucester’s Walmart, the Hayes Kroger store and the side parking lot at Nick’s Restaurant in Saluda.
BRTA also supports the year-round availability of drug disposal with drop boxes at the Ledwith Lewis Free Clinic in Tappahannock and the sheriff’s offices of Lancaster, Middlesex and Westmoreland counties.
Unused or expired prescription medications are a public safety issue, leading to accidental poisoning, overdose and abuse.
