Registration opens Saturday at 9 a.m. for this year’s Dragon Run summer paddle season. The trips are conducted by Friends of Dragon Run in the spring, summer and fall, weather permitting.
This year’s summer paddle season on Dragon Run will run from July 17-28. Trips will be conducted every day, and each trip will accommodate nine guests.
Although the summer paddle season is short, it’s a favorite time to be on the Dragon. Pickerelweed will be in bloom as well as spatterdock and lizard tail. You may see Prothonotary Warblers, Red-winged Black Birds, turtles, butterflies, dragonflies, and much more, an FODR release stated.
Paddle trips will begin at an FODR property located in King and Queen County. The trips will leave from and return to the same location where guests parked their cars. This is a round-trip paddle; the upstream paddling may be strenuous at times.
