A funeral for Dr. Kermit H. Diggs Sr., 95, of Henrico, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Bank Street Memorial Baptist Church, Norfolk. He died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012.

He was a native of Mathews County, and was preceded in death by his parents Albert R. and Ethel M. Diggs, and his wife, Dr. Ruth W. Diggs.

He attended Thomas Hunter Training School, Mathews, and received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from Virginia State College (now Virginia State University) and his doctorate degree from Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Mathews during his childhood and early adult years, and later became a member of Bank Street Memorial Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons and two grandchildren.

Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk.
