With heavy hearts, we announce on Thursday, February 15, 2024, the passing of Dr. Frank Vincent Rose of Topping, a devoted father, husband, and friend. Born on Dec. 19, 1951 to the late Frank and Stella Vincent Rose, Vince was full of laughter, joy, and purpose. After several attempts at college in his early 20s, he found his passion for helping others and earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Mississippi. An avid Ole Miss Football fan, Vince rarely missed a game and could be found drinking his favorite Pepsi Zero (not to be mistaken with Diet Pepsi) out of his Ole Miss Tervis (Hotty Toddy). After graduating from Ole Miss, he returned to Virginia, holding several jobs in psychology, including private practice, academia, and law enforcement. He proudly retired as a Captain from the Gloucester Sheriff’s Office in 2011. Outside of work, he was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending his free time in the Chesapeake Bay. He loved to pick up his son, Frank, early from school for “Marine Biology field trips” on those pleasant Virginia afternoons. He had always been a sports fan and loved coaching basketball and attending CNU sporting events. You could find Vince at the Wellness Center playing racquetball with his friends if up early enough. After retiring, Vince and his wife, Bonnie, moved to Topping, Va., where he spent his days overlooking the water, reading, and spending time with their dogs. He enjoyed being with his close friends and would never turn down breakfast at the local “Pilot House Inn” or lunch at “Olivia’s.” Vince’s most incredible pride was being a kind and supportive individual, and he left behind a legacy of love and guidance that will continue to shape the lives of the hundreds of people he connected with. Vince is survived by his wife, Bonnie; son, Frank; daughter-in-law, Audrey; stepchildren Mackenzie Melton, Schuyler Sibley, Jordan Love, Blair Sibley, and sister, Ann Thompson. The family will receive friends at Hogg Funeral Home on Friday, February 23, 2024, from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45, and a chapel service will begin at 2 o’clock, conducted by Pastor Richard Croxton. The interment will be private. Vince will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him. In memory of Vincent, the family asks that donations be made to the Virginia Law Enforcement Assistance Program (VALEAP), a Virginia-based non-profit committed to serving law enforcement officers and first responders who have undergone critical incidents in the line of duty.
