DOUGLAS JOHN CASE

Douglas John Case, of Saluda, a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at 47. The son of David L. and April C. Case, Douglas grew up in many places: Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota; Rhein-Main AB, West Germany; Loring AFB, Maine; Fairchild AFB, Washington; and Gloucester, VA. He was born on February 27, 1978, at Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota, and attended several military installation schools. At 26, Douglas enlisted in the U.S. Army on August 5, 2004. He valued this service highly and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. As part of his service he was awarded the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with campaign star, Iraq Campaign Medal with two campaign stars, Army Commendation Medal third award, Army Achievement Medal fourth award, National Defense Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Medal, Non Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon second award, NATO Medal, Combat Action Badge, Drive and Mechanic Badge with Driver Tracked Vehicles Clasp, Driver and Mechanic Badge – Mechanic, Expert Marksmanship Badge with Rifle Bar, and Driver and Mechanic Badge with Special Equipment Operator Clasp. Douglas is survived by his sons, Parker Jon Case and Lucas Skyler Case, and his parents, David L. Case and April C. Case and siblings David L. Case, Jr., Christopher A. Case, and Carson L. Case. A service honoring his life will be announced at a later date—services under the direction of Hogg Funeral Home & Crematory.
