DOSKEY MIRTLE KEYSER

Doskey Mirtle Keyser (Clifton-Hagy), better known as “Dot,” of Hayes, was called home to her Heavenly Father on Jan. 13, 2017 in York County, Virginia, at the age of 88.

Dot was a devoted mother, grandmother and Christian. She spent most of her life as a seamstress and housewife. She will be remembered for her wonderful words of wisdom and great sense of humor.

She is survived by her five children, Donald (Della) Hagy, Joyce Brown, Janice (Metin) Ortalan, Gail (Julio) Lima and Cindy (Kevin) Balsly, and two stepchildren, Barbara (Archie) Richardson and Joan (John) Altizer, along with many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased in death by her husband, Charles Israel Keyser; brothers, Howell (Naomi) Clifton, Bascom (Viola) Clifton, Boone (Mary) Clifton, Dewey (Lydia) Clifton, James (Gertie) Clifton, Estle (Mary) Clifton, and sisters, Sally Miles, Katie (Squire) Keen and Ida Clifton.

Dot was born on May 27, 1928 in Buchanan County, Virginia, to Thomas Steptoe Clifton and Lucy Lawson-Clifton. 

The family received friends Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, from 7-8 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Funeral services conducted by the Rev. Dr. Richard Croxton were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017, at Hogg Funeral Home. Interment followed in Peninsula Memorial Park Cemetery, Newport News.
