DOROTHY CARLTON LAWSON

Dorothy Carlton Lawson, 86, of Mattaponi, Va., went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, February 1, 2025. Dorothy was a longtime member of New Hope United Methodist Church. She had a strong faith and enjoyed studying the Bible. She loved children, cooking, was an avid Elvis fan and thoroughly enjoyed working puzzles.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Wilford Franklin Lawson; her sister, Grace Lawson, and her infant daughter.

Dorothy is survived by two sons, John Lawson (LeAnne) and Kenneth Lawson (Susan); her sister, Rebecca Rilee; her brother, Ronald Carlton; two grandchildren, Benjamin Lawson (Katie) and Ashley French (Benjamin); five great-grandchildren, Tyler, Matthew and Cameron Lawson and Parker and Elsie Jane French, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family would also like to say a special thank-you to Riverside Lifelong Health and Rehab team in Mathews, Va.

The family received friends from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th Street, West Point, Va. A funeral service began at 2 o’clock at the funeral home, with burial following in New Hope United Methodist Church cemetery.
