Dorothy Ann Green Jenkins, age 89, of Hayes, passed away at her home on Friday, June 21, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Cary Green Sr. and Flossie Jenkins Green, and preceded in death by her husband Vernon Jenkins; daughter, Brenda Carol Jenkins; brothers, Clarence Green, Cary Green Jr.; sisters, Gladys West, Florence Herring, Lucille Simmons, and son-in-law, Roy Haynes. Dorothy worked the waters with her husband, fishing and making crab pots for the local watermen. She was a member of Union Baptist Church, knew the Lord, and graduated from Achilles High School, class of 1952. Dorothy loved listening to Daniel O’Donnell’s music and watching Hallmark movies and game shows; in her younger years, she attended NASCAR races with her husband. She found her greatest joy in raising her children and devoted her entire life to them. While she was quiet, she was also strong and determined. She was a sweet and gentle woman with a loving smile. Her beautiful soul was reflected in her personality. She was a nurturing, caring, and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Dorothy was remarkable and loved beyond measure and will be deeply missed as she meant so much to her family. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Jean Campbell (Bud), Teresa Haynes, and Lisa Wolak (Mike); grandson, Ronald Haynes (Annette), and step-great-granddaughters, Tiffany, Savannah, and Heather, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family received friends on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, from 10-10:45 a.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, followed by an 11 o’clock chapel funeral service conducted by Pastor Bill West. Interment followed in Rosewell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Dorothy’s family would like to thank Riverside Hospice for all their care and support through this difficult time.
