Dorothy “Dot” Adams, 75, of Gloucester/Williamsburg, went to be with the Lord on Sept. 12, 2013 after a valiant and lengthy illness.

Dot retired after 20 years as a Resident Manager of the Howard Johnson Motel in Williamsburg.

She was a lifetime member of The Women of the Moose Hampton, Newport News, and Williamsburg chapters, holding many positions over the years.

 Dot is survived by eight children, Beth Stevens of Gloucester, Bob Cournoyer of New Kent, Celey Burns and Casey Rogers of Toano, Sue Sweeney, Jimmy Cournoyer, and Linda Cournoyer of Newport News, and Sam Cournoyer of North Carolina; sons-in-law, J.C. Stevens, Danny Burns, and Scott Rogers; grandsons, Jason Stevens, Craig Stevens, Ian Seeley, Chris Cournoyer, Riley Sweeney, Daniel Smith Jr. and Nick Boettcher; granddaughters, Vanessa Bozzell, Stephannie DeMers, Kelsey Sweeney, Shea Weatherington, and Taylor Smith, and eight great-grandchildren as well.

The family would like to thank the staff of Walter Reed Convalescent Center in Gloucester for their support and kindness during their mother’s illness.

A memorial service will be held at Reedswood Christian Church, Gloucester, Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 at 11 a.m. conducted by Pastor Dave Thornton, and son-in-law, J.C. Stevens. The family will receive friends directly after the service.
