DONALD ‘DON’ ALLEN WILSON

Donald “Don” Allen Wilson, age 63, went home to his Lord Jesus on September 14, 2024 at his home in Gloucester, Va., after a ferocious, decades’ long fight to live well with chronic heart disease. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Wilson Sr. and Carol Wilson. He leaves behind the love of his life, Deborah Wilson, and his greatest legacy, his amazing son, Lane Wilson, along with his daughter-in-love Lindsay, and his two beautiful grandsons, Brooks and Bennett. In addition, he is survived by his brother, Ralph Wilson Jr., and sisters, Diane Wilson and Katherine Williams. Don was born on December 18, 1960. He graduated from Lafayette High School in 1979 and built a home with his family in Williamsburg, Va. He was a self-taught professional who achieved recognition as a master electrician while working for Colonial Williamsburg for more than 30 years. Outside of his successful career, Don enjoyed all things shiny with wheels, inspiring a lifelong collection of cars, trucks and motorcycles, as well as the occasional boat. He could drive anything and thought speed limits didn’t apply to him. Don was an all-around craftsman who could fix anything and had the tool for any job–just look in his shed! His gift of artistry was also evident in his love of photography and music which he enjoyed sharing with those he loved. The most important part of Don’s life were his family and friends. Don cherished his wife, Deborah, with whom he shared a beautiful life and lovingly chose to marry not once, but twice. First at a small ceremony as two young people in love and again, nearly 40 years later, at a beautiful vow renewal as two (slightly) older people with much life experience who remained devotedly in love and young at heart. Much like with his wife, Don loved others unconditionally and was always willing to help anyone in need. His sweet smile and kind heart touched all who knew him, and he will be eternally loved and greatly missed. In memory of Don, contributions may be made to Riverside Walter Reed Hospice, 7358 Main Street, Gloucester, Va. 23061. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Susanna Wesley United Methodist Church, 3900 George Washington Memorial Hwy., Ordinary, Va. 23131, on Friday, October 11, 2024, at 2 p.m. Entombment will be private.
