Dominion Energy Virginia lhas announced a rate decrease that began July 1. According to a press release, the typical residential customer who uses an average of 1,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity each month will see a decrease of around $14 a month on average.
The amount is based on an average monthly bill of around $140 (usually more in the summer and winter, less in the spring and fall) and equates to around a 10 percent decrease, said Dominion spokesman Craig Carper.
The rate reduction results from legislation passed in the 2023 Virginia General Assembly that eliminated about $7 on average in monthly charges for the average customer and allowed Dominion to seek regulatory approval to spread fuel costs over a multi-year period.
