Rhetson Companies has submitted its site plan for a new Dollar General store to be located on Twiggs Ferry Road in the Cobbs Creek/Dutton area of Mathews. The site plan was developed by Summit Design & Engineering Services of South Boston, Virginia. It shows a 156-foot by 80-foot building and a parking layout very similar to the one used for the Dollar General on Buckley Hall Road at Hudgins, with a single entry and parking in front of and on one side of the store. One large stormwater/erosion control basin is included on-site, along with a number of smaller similar drainage structures. There are detailed drawings for every phase of the construction project. Mathews Planning and Zoning Director James Knighton said the plan still has to be reviewed by his office and several outside agencies before it’s approved for implementation.
