For the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society, the Dog Days of Summer Food Drive brought generous donations from the community for the eighth consecutive year. From Aug. 14-31, donation collection areas were set up around the community at many local businesses, including the Bay School Community Arts Center, Brent & Becky’s Bulbs, CA&J Farm, Gloucester Main Street Association, Teagle Insurance Agency, The Closing Shop, The Silver Box, Village Cleaners, and Whitley’s Peanut Factory. Donations given included dog and cat food, treats, toys, dog beds and monetary donations. In left photo, Bonnie Stainback from The Closing Shop delivers bags of dog and cat food to GMHS. At right, Sydney Early (left) and Jeanell Lafata from Teagle Insurance Agency brought much-needed supplies.
