With the help of community, school and student volunteers, the Mathews High School Music Department hosted its first “Dinner and a Show” spaghetti dinner fundraiser last Wednesday. About 150 attended the dinner, which was held in the MHS cafeteria and featured performances from the MHS Jazz Band, the MHS String Orchestra, the Marching Blue Devils drumline, and various instrumental and vocal soloists from MHS students, according to Mark Givens, head of the school’s music department. The music program plans to hold the event annually moving forward, potentially moving the event to the fall next year, he said. All proceeds from the event go to benefit the MHS Music Department.
