Dining in style with the Daughters and Sons

The York River Circle of The King’s Daughters and Sons, formed in 1928, recently held the 29th Book Author’s Luncheon at Providence Baptist Church in Ordinary.
For 28 years ticket holders have been greeted at the door by a long table completely filled with dozens of slices from a variety of pies. The policy is to make your choice, have a seat, and enjoy visiting with friends, the lunch and guest speaker.

The 69 active members of this organization (only 36 on the roster in 1928) hold this event to support their community in many forms with monetary contributions and personal volunteer services. Major contributions are made to the Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters writing to it this year a check for $3,000. Sheltering Arms Hospital received a $1,000 check.
