The Mathews High School varsity football team fell to the visiting King and Queen Tigers in Friday night’s homecoming matchup, 37-0.
After suffering a number of injuries, the Devils forfeited the second half. Head coach Dustin Mullins still sees some positives in his squad.
“I thought we showed a lot of improvement on defense,” Mullins said. “I think making the switch to under center helped with the snap issue, but we still aren’t doing the little things right in the game. We had a lot of unsportsmanlike penalties due to emotions, but we have to play controlled. We need to be more aggressive and attack more. The most positive is that we improve on something every single week somewhere.
