Derelict pot removal

Local watermen Ralph Bonniville and E.C. Hogge, from left, have been working with the Virginia Institute of Marine Science to remove derelict crab pots from the Chesapeake Bay as part of the Virginia Marine Debris Program. Below, Hogge is shown pulling in one of these pots while on the York River. The program is a framework for strategic action and a roadmap for reducing consumer debris, derelict fishing gear, microplastics, and abandoned and derelict vessels, a release said.
