Deltaville Yachting Center tech receives certification

Dylan O’Hare, a marine technician at Deltaville Yachting Center, recently received a Virginia State Marine Technician Journeyman Certificate.
To earn the certification, O’Hare completed two years of technical training in marine electrical, engines, systems, rigging and structural repair, along with coursework in computer skills, 10 Hour OSHA safety and boatyard heavy equipment operation. The coursework requirements for completing the Marine Technician Apprenticeship is carefully monitored, including at least three years of on-the-job experience under senior technical supervision for a total combined experience and coursework of 4,000 hours.
Deltaville Yachting Center has been an active Virginia State Apprenticeship sponsor since 2003. DYC will support O’Hare’s education as he expands his marine technical skills through ABYC (American Boat & Yacht Council) certification and a variety of dealership factory training courses, Deltaville Yachting Center owner Onna Grimm said.
