The Deltaville Deltas avenged their last meeting with the Richmond El Heaters on Saturday night, jumping out to a 7-run lead and rolling to a 15-2 victory in a rain-shortened game.
The last time the teams met was in the August 2020 Richmond NABA championship, where the Heaters jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and went on to defeat Deltaville, 10-4, for the league title. Eleven months later, the Deltas turned the tables in definitive fashion.
After holding the Heaters scoreless in the top of the 1st, Deltaville’s first two batters were retired on groundouts. Jacob Houston started a two-out rally, blasting a double off the right field wall, and the next nine Deltas reached base on a series of hits and defensive errors.
