Deltas split with Cardinals; host Yorktown this weekend

The Deltaville Deltas had a rollercoaster weekend, falling Saturday night to the Peninsula Cardinals, 13-2, before rebounding on Sunday to return the rout with a 13-1 victory.

With the wins, the Deltas move to 7-3 on the season, and maintain second place, 1½ games back of first.

This weekend, the Deltas take on the York Cannons. A perennial contender at the top of league standings, the Cannons will visit the Deltas at Deltaville Ballpark in a 7:30 p.m. game Saturday. On Sunday at 4 p.m., the Deltas will travel to Charles Brown Park in Yorktown to complete the two-game series.

Little went right for the Deltas on Saturday night, as the bats stayed silent and pitching struggled to be efficient. Deltaville managed to collect only three hits, and was unable to overcome an early 7-1 deficit.
